DNA is a good way to research ancestors.  You can use your DNA results to compare family trees.  If you see you are related to someone through DNA, you can compare trees, and try to figure out how your trees intersect, to get more clues to build your tree.  My husband and I have spent a lot of money on DNA tests for his family and ours because we wanted to make sure we tested our oldest living relatives before they passed away.  I unfortunately didn't start testing anyone until after my grandma Ann Payne Park passed away, but I got my other three grandparents (Bill Park, Jeanne' Baird Thorup and Wally Thorup). 

 

My mom, Leslie Park Thorup's DNA will be the next helpful for looking at my Grandma Ann Payne Park's line, and eventually I hope several of her siblings and the Payne cousins get their DNA tested.   Look at Robert and William below.  They are brothers but have different DNA providing different clues into what their parents DNA would be.
